Pedaling Toward Enlightment: Core Power Yoga Introduces RealRyder Indoor Cycling, 8-10 Locations Expected by Year's End
Trevor Tice, CEO of Core Power Yoga (CPY), one of the most successful yoga operations worldwide, has always appreciated the similarities between power yoga and the sport of cycling, and now he's investing in both.

SANTA MONICA, CA, May 05, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Picture a Buddha statue - the highest symbol in yogic culture - and immediately the idea of unshakable faith, mental discipline and fearlessness come to mind. Ask a professional cyclist what it takes to complete a 100-mile race and you'll hear about similar self-mastery. Trevor Tice, CEO of Core Power Yoga (CPY), has always appreciated the similarities between power yoga and the sport of cycling, and now he's investing in both.

"I love the combination of yoga and cycling. Both require focus, physical strength, breath control and that mind-body connection," says Tice, the founder of one of the largest, most successful yoga operations in the U.S. with 50+ locations.

The addition of stationary cycling classes, fusion weight training programs and use of other traditional exercise equipment isn't a rarity among yoga studios today - and for good reason. In fact, Tice took a closer look at his member base and discovered that approximately 50% still maintain gym memberships. Their primary purpose wasn't to pump iron, but rather to accelerate their cardiovascular training.

Making his mark with sweaty, core-centric yoga classes, Tice selected the bike that would serve his members' needs best - the RealRyder Indoor Cycle. This "unstationary" indoor bike actually leans and turns, emulating the same functional, core-centric movement you feel on the real road.

"The lateral movement adds a whole new dimension to the experience. You're not only getting your arms more involved in the workout, but it's also more specific work for the core... just like the type of yoga we offer at Core Power Yoga," says Tice. "We wanted to provide this as a value-add, so that our members could move away from the gym and be completely fulfilled spiritually, mentally and physically at Core Power Yoga."

The RealRyder bikes are now thriving in three CPY locations, including Minneapolis, MN where, Tice reports, "We were turning up to 15 people away at our 6 a.m. classes. We just doubled the number of bikes we have there because of the success. The members have been loving it."

With 8-10 installations expected by year's end, Tice and his team are experimenting with heated rooms for the cycling classes to encourage the same detoxification benefits his members enjoy in their sweltering yoga classes.

"Pure yoga will always be our primary business, but we try not to be so dogmatic about it. We feel that every one needs to choose their own path. We try to make it successful and fun!" adds Tice.

Perhaps if Buddha had known about Tice's powerful combination, we'd be rubbing his rock hard abs for good luck?
